I've been writing about the importance of smoking twenty-five feet from the campus building entrances. I think that it's really important for people to do that because not every one wants to walk through second hand smoke to get to class. I've also focused on the fact that I've noticed cigarette butts on the ground all over campus which is as bad as throwing your left over trash on the ground for people to walk through. I especially don't understand why smokers can't put their butts in an ash tray because they're placed at the appropriate distance from all the buildings for smokers to not only smoke, but put out their cigarette, instead of throwing it on the ground. Since I've started my blog there's been signs put up reminding people to smoke away from the building and I think it's helped a lot.
As for a course of action...I think the signs have worked and my only other suggestion was that school officials should just keep their eye's out for smokers who aren't obeying the law and remind them to keep it at a distance. When I suggested this I also stated that it would have to be a long term job and some of the responses I got was that it wouldn't really fix any thing. I also believe that is true because some people will only follow the rules if they know they are being watched or that there will be consequences so it would definitely have to be a continuous thing. I don't really have any other suggestions and I'm open to new idea's if anyone has any!

I think smoking is beat. It does absolutely nothing for you. It makes you more succeptable to illness and stinks! I am an ex-smoker ( of five years) and I look back at all the money that I spent just to smell worse, it makes me sick! I personally feel that if someone wants to ease their way into lung cancer it should not be done 25 ft. from any door. It should be done in the privacy of their own home. Realistcally if someone was really depressed and they were going to commit suicide they would'nt go up to a building, make sure they were 25 ft. from the the door then blow their brains out. They would do it in the privacy of their own home. So that no one else would have to wield the burden.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, in response to your response. It's true, even if you can get the job you want after high school no one is promising the right pay or benifits. So that just shows you a little bit more how important it is we make the right decision.
